The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide of 9 December 1948 came into force in 01.1951. Governments could sign the Convention up to 31 December 1949; after 1 January 1950 any Member of the United Nations or any Non-member State that was invited to do so could accede to the Convention. Such invitations went to each non-member State which became an active member of one or more of the specialized agencies of the UN, or which had become a party to the Statute of the International Court of Justice, in accordance with GA resolution 368 (IV) (1949).
The records of the sub-sub-series consist of correspondence with regard to the transmission of certified true copies and to the ratification or accession by States to the Convention.
