Dinner with A. Greiser, President of the Danzig Senate, and principal Danzig officials; Count and Countess von Kayserling: talk on Danzig situation; conversation with von Radovitz about A. Greiser's and A. Forster's attitude vis-à-vis the League of Nations.
Danzig situation; A. Greiser's, President of the Danzig Senate, and A. Forster's speeches; A. Greiser's attitude, Hitler's position; conversation with Papee, Polish Minister.
Carl Burckhardt, High Commissioner in Danzig: interview with Gauleiter (Regional Leader) A. Forster, from Nazi Party, about Jewish and Aryan questions in Danzig, talk with A. Greiser, President of the Danzig Senate, and interview with Hermann Göring, Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe, President of the Reichstag, Prime Minister of Prussia, Plenipotentiary for the Implementation of the Four Year (economic) Plan, Leader of the Nazi Party, founder of the Gestapo and designated successor to Hitler.
C. Burckhardt, High Commissioner in Danzig, about the situation in Danzig and the continuous fight between Gauleiter (Regional Leader) A. Forster, from Nazi Party, and A. Greiser, President of the Danzig Senate.
Letter to acknowledge receipt, since all semi-official letters addressed to the Secretary-General went into L. Krabbe's hands, of S. Lester's last report on the political situation in Danzig and the relationships between H. Rauschning and A. Forster; L. Krabbe from the League of Nations Political Section was very busy with the Saar question.
Missing documents, requested by L. Krabbe, concerning the replacement of the Municipal Council by a State Commissioner; S. Lester's anxiety as to the development of religious feeling following the resistance of the Catholic Boys organization to absorption by the Hitler Youth; campaign by the Hitler Youth; manifesto issued by A. Forster in newspapers.
H. Rauschning's speech on the Constitution and the question of its revision, his declaration with regard to the negotiations with Poland, particularly to the questions of customs and contingents, hoping for a policy of collaboration and a change in the present situation in Danzig.
Evasive answer from A. Greiser, Vice-President of the Danzig Senate, to S. Lester: A. Greiser, who was temporarily replacing president H. Rauschning, denied any quarrel existed between the Party and the Senate, he recalled the members of the Senate had taken an oath of loyalty to the Constitution, they will not break, and denied he or the Senate contemplated putting into force the policy outlined in A. Forster's demands, since he even denied any demand from A. Forster on the Senate.
H. Rauschning remained on so-called sick leave and refused to resign; disputes between H. Rausching, A. Forster and A. Greiser were only rumours due to Polish newspapers' misrepresentations; A. Forster's speech on the Party policy based on a so-called loyalty to the Constitution and policy of conciliation with Poland; Budding's view (Regierungs Präsident of East Prussia) on Danzig internal political trouble due to the economic factors more than to the political ones; for S. Lester it was a pity to drop a man like H. Rauschning, who could contribute to the well being of Danzig and international security.
