A recommendation that the Second UN scientific conference on the peaceful uses of atomic energy shall open on or about 1 september 1958 and shall last two weeks, has been made by the seven-member committee appointed to advise Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold on atomic affairs. A decision on the site of the conference will be taken later. The Committee made its recommendation at a closed meeting at UN Headquarters last Friday 28 September.
