On "Volkstimme"; Jurists Committee; Danzig financial situation.
Regarding presumably the Committee (of Jurists?) to meet.
S. Lester needed an assistant in Danzig: F. Walters suggested a member of the Tanslation Section.
F. Walters busy with the Chaco and Leticia questions, the question of the Assyrians in Iraq, troubles in Liberia, and the Saar Plebiscite, had no time to think about the question of E. Giustiniani and a possible Chef de Cabinet for S. Lester.
Letter referring to the story reported by the "Journal des Nations" on a report S. Lester would have made to the League of Nations Secretariat on incidents in the Volkstag during its dissolution meeting.
A. Loveday considering the matter; Schacht's speech: Germany not in a position to give financial support to the Danzig banks; A. Loveday or a member of his Section to go to Danzig; Poland's protest against the Exchange Restrictions Decree.
F. Walters: S. Lester's telegram was a tactical move, asking for a written reply.
Elections in Danzig made it difficult to pay a visit to S. Lester.
Enclosed is F. Walters' reply in English of 30 April 1935: Danzig questions to the Council, Rapporteur's report, F. Walters' wish to write to W. Strang about all this.
In the absence of the Secretary-General and of L. Krabbe, who was in the Saar to start the Plebiscite Commission, F. Walters acknowledged receipt of S. Lester's letters to the Secretary-General, he assured S. Lester that the previous High Commissioner at Danzig had similar problems; Danzig-Polish new agreement; Lawless seemed to have missed the chance of putting his name forward for the Saar; F. Walters and the Chaco question.
