An ethnic dance company form Greece, a pianist from Turkey, and a chorus of black singers from the United States performed at the concert to mark Human Rights Day 1975, held in the General Assembly Hall today. The President of the General Assembly, Gaston Thorn (Luxembourg), made an address. The Preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was spoken by Dorothy Maynor, a black soprano who is now director of the Harlem School of the Arts Heritage Society. The occasion marks the 27th anniversary of the adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly on 10 December 1948 in Paris.

Senegal's National Dance Company, a Hungarian gyspy ensemble and a noted pianist form Poland performed at this year's Human Rights Day concert at United Nations Headquarters. The concert, which was held in the General Assembly Hall this evening, marked the twenty-sixth anniversary of the adoption by the Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Preamble to the Universal Declaration was read by Maurice Sonar Senghor, Director of Senegal's National Theatre and a nephew of President Leopold Senghor.
The Rajko Ensemble, a team of Hungarian players and dancers performing. Each of 35-performers - their average age is 17 - is descended from gypsy musicians, singers, dancers, violinists and violin makers. Among the featured soloists is a seven-year old violin virtuoso.

The concert also included a statement by Hamilton Shirley Amerasinghe of Sri Lanka, President of the General Assembly, and a reading of the Preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by a child from the UN International school. "The Philippine Folk Arts Dance Troup" offered a programme of authentic national dances from various parts of the nation. The Company is under the sponsorship of Mrs. Imelda R. Marcos, the Philippines' First Lady. Based in New York, the group has become well-known for its appearances in this city, and has travelled widely to demonstrate the special character of their folk art. "The Ballet National Festivales de Espana" was created just over three years ago by the merging of three separate companies: the "Antonio Ballet", the "Zarzuela Ballet" and the "Festival Ballet". The Ballet Nacional has its home in Madrid 's Zarzuela Theatre, but it travels to many cities in Spain where performances are given "in squares, theatres and circuses".

The annual Human Rigts Day Concert took place in the General Assembly Hall this evening and performances were given by Zagrebacki Solisti (I Solisti di Zagreb) and the Dancers and Musicians of Bali. The concert also included a statement by the President of the General Assembly , Lazar Mojaov of Yugoslavia, and a reading of the Preamble of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by Mrs. Coretta Scott King, widow of the late Marin Luther King, Jr. .

Alicia de Larrocha, the renowned Spanish pianist, gave a recital in the General Assembly Hall this evening, as part of the special ceremony of celebration to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The ceremony , at which human rights prizes were awarded to eight recipients, replaces the traditional concert normally held at UN Headquarters on 10 December. The ceremony began with a reading of the Preamble to the Human Rights Declaration, by the noted American actress Lauren Bacall. The President of the General Assembly, Indalecio Lievano (Colombia), then described the human rights prizes. The citations to each recipient was read by Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim. Each recipient made a brief address of acceptance. The prizes were awarded in accordance with General Assembly Resolution 2217 (XXI) of 19 Decemeber 1966. Four of the prizes went to individuals and four to organizations. After the eight prizes were awarded, the audience heard music by Soler, Granados, and Chopin played by Alicia de Larrocha.
Begum RA'Ana Liaquat Ali Khan, who was awarded a Human Rights prize, is a leading Pakistani women's rights activist, economist, diplomat, educator, and community leader.
