A concert in honour of the 21st Anniversary of the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was held at United Nations Headquarters tonight. Artists who performed at the concert were: French pianist Evelyne Crochet, who played composition by Liszt and Albenis; Maria Douglas, a Mexican actress of the Theatre Company of Mexico City, who performed a monologue from Human Rights Day entitled "Voice in the Desert" (concerto for single voice); and one of the most celebrated of Indian classical dancers, Vyjayanthimala, an interpreter of the classical dance from Bharata Natyan.

Artists who participated in the concert included soprano Edda Moser, baritone Dominic Cossa, pianist Roland Gagnon and the Lenox String Quartet, which is composed of Peter Marsh and Delmar Pettys, violins; Toby Appel, viola; and Donald McCall, cello. The Preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was read by Lalitha Vaidyanathan, and Stanislav Trepczynski, President of the 26th Session of the General Assembly, made a statement.

The Preamble to the Declaration was read by Mr. Mohyeddin, and Roberto Martinez Ordonez, Permanent Representative of Honduras to the United Nations, made a statement in the place of Leopoldo Benites (Ecuador), President of the General Assembly, who was indisposed.

Senegal's National Dance Company, a Hungarian gyspy ensemble and a noted pianist form Poland performed at this year's Human Rights Day concert at United Nations Headquarters. The concert, which was held in the General Assembly Hall this evening, marked the twenty-sixth anniversary of the adoption by the Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Preamble to the Universal Declaration was read by Maurice Sonar Senghor, Director of Senegal's National Theatre and a nephew of President Leopold Senghor.
The Rajko Ensemble, a team of Hungarian players and dancers performing. Each of 35-performers - their average age is 17 - is descended from gypsy musicians, singers, dancers, violinists and violin makers. Among the featured soloists is a seven-year old violin virtuoso.
